Didn't blog very much. Sorry!
Between the weekend, which was jabber, I wanted to write a post about the writer's meeting on Saturday but couldn't find the brainpower on Sunday, which was mostly spent going 'urgggh'
So in brief: It was awesome. Winks and hugs to i_serae if you're reading this. If anyone else from the NaNo is reading this, tough craps, you didn't comment on my posts so hah to you.
Speaking of writing my novel is at... 36,046 / 50,000 words. I am 600 words behind schedule and the only reason I'm not tinkering with it right now is that I actually have some work to do. Urgh.
Work: It's been alright recently, coming in sporadic bursts. I get the feeling that this semester, while cramped and murderous schedule wise, isn't quite the blistering logjam the last semester was. That and it'll be over quickly.
Oh and I still haven't found an internship position. This worries me greatly. I went for an interview with a management company who wanted some brand marketing but no dice. They need a chinese speaker. Who the bleeding heck speaks chinese in this day and age I would like to know.
So since they won't hire a banana, I left with vague I'll pass this to some of my clients stuff in my ears. Leaving that aside, I muddled through the rest of my week, tinking at my novel, doing work, playing the very excellent Call of Duty 4, which comes |---| close to being the best shooter I've played this year next to Half Life Episode 2, but fails due to the simple fact that:
I like to be challenged in a game featuring realistic combat, therefore I play without the crosshair, and on the 2nd highest difficulty setting.
And there is no fucking quicksave function.
Seriously. wtf.
No fucking quicksave? What is this, a console game? Oh wait, it is, you XBoX/PS3 morons who can't afford a decent fucking PC. Checkpoint, ooh! You may argue that quicksaving spoils people and makes them reliant on just brute-forcing their way through situations, but I don't quicksave that way, at all. In fact I only realized there was no quicksave button somewhere in Act II of the game, when I reached a level so mind-bogglingly hard that I instinctively hit F5 after the first couple of retries only to realize IT DIDN'T FUCKING HAVE ONE.
I played that one bit of that one level for 3 hours. Fuck you console people. Seriously. That one level, and another one after, where you run up a hill, run down the hill, and have bad guys shooting at you from every conceivable direction, I can do in my sleep now. Why? They were so freaking hard that I ended up finding ways to sit in a stupid spot fifty miles off course and plink at the AI until they were all dead.
In other words, I had to break the mission. GG no quicksave. I would normally play the game on the hardest setting now, but fuck having to respawn 5 minutes back because one terrorist offs me as I turn a corner.
Apart from that, I'm juicy!
